Help New Mexico (HELPNM) was created in 1965 by the interdenominational New Mexico Council of Churches to support education in their community. Today, HELPNM’s legacy and impact carry on through HELPNM’s work as a fully-owned subsidiary of CPLC. The Office of Learning and Academic Opportunity (OLAO) provides services to children and families from birth to eight years of age. Our priority is to provide general services related to families in the areas of education, health and social/behavioral development.
OLAO also provides an intentional, coordinated approach to strengthening the family unit and combines programming for children and adults in order to build strong and stable families.
This position is responsible to supervise and monitor the safety of the children in their care; as well as organize mealtimes and snacks for children and to develop schedules and routines to ensure that children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime. Also, provides a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
Facilitates children in problem‑solving.
- High School diploma or GED
- 45‑Hour Course in Early Childhood or willing to obtain within 6‑months of employment
- Minimum of 1‑year experience working with young children in an early childhood setting or babysitting, or a public‑school setting at a grade level no higher than elementary school
- First Aid/CPR Certified and Food Hander’s Certification or willing to obtain within the first 6‑months of employment is required
- Health Determination/TB Skin Test and Fingerprint Background Check prior to employment
- Bilingual ability (Spanish/English) is preferred
- Driver’s License and proof of liability insurance meeting or exceeding State‑required minimum coverages
