CHRISTUS South New Mexico Orthopedic Surgery Associates is seeking a talented Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Orthopedic Surgeon to join our dedicated team in Alamogordo, NM. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive orthopedic care in a high-demand rural setting, serving a diverse patient population with minimal competition. With an annual patient volume of approximately 4,000 visits, you’ll make a meaningful impact on the community, including military veterans and active lifestyles enthusiasts, through fracture care, joint replacements, sports medicine, and more.

Orthopedic Surgeon Opportunity in Alamogordo, NM – Board-Certified or Eligible

As an Orthopedic Surgeon at CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic, you’ll deliver exceptional orthopedic services to patients across Southern New Mexico’s expansive catchment area. Our practice emphasizes a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach, working alongside physical therapists, pain management specialists, and podiatrists to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities and Procedures
  • Fracture Care & Trauma Surgery: Addressing injuries from farming, construction, and outdoor activities in this active region.
  • Arthroscopic Procedures: Minimally invasive repairs for knees, shoulders, and ankles, including meniscus tears, rotator cuff injuries, and labral repairs.
  • Sports Medicine Procedures: ACL reconstructions, tendon repairs, and treatments tailored to athletes and active individuals.
  • Carpal Tunnel & Hand Surgery: Essential care for the general workforce and aging population.
  • Revision Surgeries: Handling complications from prior joint replacements or surgeries performed elsewhere.
  • Total Joint Replacements: Hip, knee, and shoulder replacements to meet the needs of an aging demographic with high arthritis prevalence.

The role involves a standard schedule of 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, with a focus on both surgical expertise and patient education for injury prevention and recovery. This position is ideal for surgeons passionate about serving underserved rural communities, including significant military and veteran care needs.

Requirements
  • Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery.
  • Eligibility for or possession of a New Mexico medical license.
  • 3-5 years of general orthopedic practice experience, with proficiency in joint replacements, arthroscopy, and fracture care.
  • Surgical skills in minimally invasive and traditional open techniques for arthritis, fractures, and sports injuries.
  • Preferred (not required):
    Fellowship training in joint replacement, sports medicine, trauma, or hand/foot and ankle surgery.
  • Strong ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team environment.
