Position: Adult Health Clinical Faculty (PT)

Part-Time Clinical Nursing Faculty sought to teach with our BSN Nursing program. You will mentor students in person at an inpatient clinical setting located in Alamogordo, NM.

You will be making connections between what our students learn in the classroom and simulations, and the real-world applications in patient care they experience on site. By bridging this gap, we ensure our students are well‑prepared and confident in providing high‑quality care.

No teaching experience is required; nurses with solid clinical experience and a completed MSN are encouraged to apply.

Scheduling
  • Schedule is determined based on course need and the clinical specialty for each 8‑week session.
  • Clinical instructors are typically scheduled for 3‑4 consecutive 12‑hour shifts, occurring over a period of 1‑2 weeks per session.
  • Additional dates may not be available; clinical dates are not guaranteed for every session.
Adult Health Medical‑Surgical Nursing

Students will demonstrate nursing skills in an inpatient health center, focusing on adult patients and families, health promotion, and management of acute and chronic conditions. The nursing process guides discussion of health alterations affecting selected life processes. Students continue professional skill development as members of the health team.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Curriculum Implementation
    • Implement the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service.
    • Assume responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads.
    • Plan clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students.
  • Student Evaluation and Support
    • Develop and post written clinical assignments consistent with students' knowledge and skill competency.
    • Evaluate and provide documented feedback on performance based on course objectives.
    • Be available for remediation of students as needed.
    • Correct and return homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork, and other written work in a timely manner.
  • Clinical Coordination
    • Orient to and maintain knowledge of clinical site policies, procedures, and expectations with site personnel.
    • Maintain visibility while staying available to staff and students at the clinical site.
  • Program and College Development
    • Contribute to ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of the programs and the College.
    • Participate in the College Assessment Program, campus retention efforts, and policy implementation.
    • May teach simulation/skills lab and/or didactic content under supervision of course coordinator.
  • Professionalism and Collaboration
    • Serve as a professional role model for faculty, staff, and students.
    • Use relationship skills for group problem solving, consensus building, and negotiation.
    • Collaborate with administration and faculty to improve college operations and student satisfaction.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Reporting
    • Comply with all applicable regulatory rules and standards.
    • Keep the course coordinator informed of student and agency issues.
    • Report to the dean or assistant dean with oversight from a course coordinator.
  • Handle related duties and other assigned tasks; comply with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • A master’s or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • An unencumbered RN nursing license in New Mexico.
  • Illinois RN License required to teach all courses (prioritized for Illinois‑licensed professors).
  • Active BLS certification (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network).
  • At least two years of professional experience within the last five years in the area of instruction as a registered nurse.
Additional Information

In support of pay transparency laws, the expected compensation rate for this position ranges from $1,120 to $7,245 per assignment, depending on education and experience. Actual pay may be adjusted for course type, experience, certifications, geography, licensure, market factors, departmental budgets, and responsibility.
