Middle School Coding/Robotics Class Teacher

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, this position will plan for and provide instruction for basic computer coding and Lego Mindstorm/Robotics for semester classes at Ortega Middle School.

Position Purpose

The successful candidate will develop instruction for basic computer coding and Lego Mindstorm/Robotics, teach knowledge and develop skills in these areas, and provide a safe and optimal learning environment for students.

Essential Functions
  • Develops instruction for basic computer coding.
  • Develops instruction for Lego Mindstorm/Robotics.
  • Teaches knowledge and develops skills in these areas.
  • Develops students' concepts in leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and social skills.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student growth and progress, modifying instructional methods as needed.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and stay current in the educational field.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records of student activities, achievement, and attendance.
  • Encourages parental involvement and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  • Coordinates with other staff members and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Selects and requisitions instructional aids and maintains inventory records.
Additional Duties

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other administrators.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of current basic computer coding and Lego Mindstorm/Robotics education instructional methods.
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and action planning.
  • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work, communicate effectively, and establish cooperative working relationships.
Certification/License and Qualifications
  • Current CO License in Instructional Technology, STEM, Coding, or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment (Master's degree preferred).
