Employment starts 02/02/2026 through 10/30/2026. 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day.

The mission of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources is to develop, preserve, and enhance the state's natural resources for current and future citizens and visitors. We welcome applications from diverse backgrounds and abilities.

Position Description

This position is at the NASRF to help sustain a healthy environment and dietary regime to optimize spawning efforts. The chosen candidates will be involved in daily husbandry duties of fish and toads, including feeding, cleaning, netting, and seining, as well as occasional transport and grounds maintenance.

  • Work directly with full‑time staff and temporary workers.
  • Complete monthly daily activity reports.
  • Occasionally transport fish and toads around the state.
  • Feed various types of fish.
  • Netting and seining of ponds and tanks.
  • Cleaning of aquariums and toad tanks.
  • Feeding toads various diets.
  • Weed trimming and grounds maintenance.
  • Light cleaning of buildings weekly.
  • Building and plumbing projects.
Basic Requirements

Minimum qualifications, substitutions, conditions of employment & appeal rights:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have a current & valid driver's license or reliable transportation or be required to operate a state vehicle.
  • May be required to purchase limited uniform items at own expense.
  • May be subject to a comprehensive background check.
  • Must be willing and able to work 40 hours per week, 8 hours a day.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with or working toward a Natural Resources degree or similar education.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills for excellent customer service.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and well within a team.
  • Must be able to climb in and out of vessels and under trailers.
  • Must be able to work outside, potentially in inclement weather.
  • Must be able to lift 50-100 pounds repeatedly during the workday.
