Temporary Position (9 months or less) – $18 per hour

The mission of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources is to develop, preserve, and enhance the state’s natural resources for the benefit and enjoyment of current and future citizens and visitors. The chosen candidates will be involved with the daily husbandry duties of fish and toads, including feeding, cleaning, and staging/harvesting of fish and toads. The position focuses on sustaining a healthy environment and optimizing spawning efforts during the season. Attention to detail and careful planning are required due to the many different species on the unit. We practice strict biosecurity protocols and disinfection.

• Work directly with other full-time staff and temporary workers.
• Complete monthly daily activity reports.
• Occasionally transport fish and toads around the state.
• Feed various types of fish.
• Netting and seining of ponds and tanks.
• Cleaning of aquariums and toad tanks.
• Feeding toads various diets.
• Weed trimming and grounds maintenance.
• Light cleaning of buildings weekly.
• Building and plumbing projects.

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a current & valid driver’s license or reliable transportation, OR a license required for operating a state vehicle.
• The work‑site will provide some uniform items; the employee may be required to purchase limited uniform items at their own expense.
• Applicants may be subject to successful completion of a comprehensive background check.
• Must be willing and able to work 40 hours per week, 8 hours a day.
• Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, and varied shifts.
• Preference may be given to applicants with or working toward a Natural Resources degree or similar education.
• Possess strong interpersonal skills to deliver excellent customer service.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work with limited supervision and work well within a team.
• Must be willing and able to climb in and out of vessels and under trailers to perform job functions.
• Must be willing and able to work outside, which may involve inclement weather.
• Must be able to lift 50–100 pounds repeatedly during the course of a workday.
