Community Health Aide Trainee, I, II, III, IV, Practitioner - McGrath Regional Health Center
Southcentral Foundation (SCF) is hiring Community Health Aides across five levels, from Trainee through Practitioner, to provide acute, chronic, emergency, and preventive medical care to Village residents under the direction of medical doctors in Anchorage and according to the CHA/P Manual. Trainees (CHA‑T) receive progressive training and hands‑on experience; higher levels perform more independent duties in line with their certification.
Pay Range$17.44 /hr – $25.29 /hr (base)
Hiring ranges and pay for each level:
- Community Health Aide Trainee – $17.44 to $22.67
- Community Health Aide I – $20.19 to $26.25
- Community Health Aide II – $22.55 to $30.06
- Community Health Aide III – $25.81 to $34.42
- Community Health Aide IV – $29.55 to $39.40
- Community Health Aide Practitioner – $33.84 to $45.11

Job Responsibilities
Provide acute, chronic, emergency, and preventive medical care to Village residents under the guidance of medical doctors and in accordance with the CHA/P Manual and Standing Orders. Trainees receive training and increase responsibility as they advance through levels.
QualificationsSCF programs serve a primary population of Alaska Native people affiliated with Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI) and other Alaska Native and American Indian peoples. Candidates should understand the cultures and needs of this population.
Requirements for CHA‑T- High school diploma or GED.
- Meet all Community Health Aide Program Certification Board standards and procedures for CHA‑T.
- Pass 6th‑grade level mathematic/TABE test.
- Hold or maintain Emergency Trauma Technician (ETT) or Emergency Medical Technician certification.
- Complete CHA Session I and score ≥80% on required testing.
- Enroll as individual rendering provider with Alaska Medicaid.
- Meet all CHA Program Certification Board standards and procedures.
- Complete CHA Session II and score ≥80% on required testing.
- Meet all CHA Program Certification Board standards and procedures.
- Complete CHA Session III and score ≥80% on required testing.
- Obtain additional CHA III Medical Standing Orders (MSO) from consulting physician.
- Meet all CHA Program Certification Board standards and procedures.
- Complete CHA Session IV and score ≥80% on required testing.
- Meet all CHA Program Certification Board standards and procedures.
- Maintain current certification as a Practitioner by CHA Program Certification Board (CHAPCB).
- Meet all CHA Program Certification Board standards and procedures.
Under P.L. 93‑638, as amended, SCF pursues a policy of Native preference in hiring, contracting, and training.
Employee Health RequirementsCompliance with the Employee Health Procedure is required before employment. Candidates must complete MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Influenza, T‑dap, and COVID‑19 vaccinations prior to the first day of work.
