Position Summary

This position is a Heavy Equipment Mechanic at the Manh Choh Project located in Tok, Alaska, requiring the ability to work safely in a surface mine environment and to deliver quality work with meticulous attention to detail.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
  • Work independently or with industry specialists to troubleshoot and diagnose problems with production machinery.
  • Set up, run, troubleshoot, and tear down mining machinery.
  • Apply experience with diesel engines, hydraulic, pneumatic, and 24‑V electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot machinery during production times.
  • Communicate machine issues to production management when necessary.
  • Collaborate with equipment operators to ensure machines are running safely and properly.
  • Perform required re‑fueling and lubrication tasks.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with company policies and best practices.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent with prior related field experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of direct Heavy Equipment Mechanic experience with familiarity in 6030 front shovels, D9 and D10 dozers, 992 wheel loaders, 395 excavators, and 777 haul trucks.
  • Probable ability to understand, follow, and communicate written and oral instructions with management or supervision.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, and layout tools safely and efficiently.
Requirements
  • Meet all physical requirements.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Climb, work at heights, and operate in confined spaces.
  • Work rotating 12‑hour shifts on a 2‑week on / 2‑week off schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Pass pre‑access drug and alcohol testing, fit‑for‑duty medical examination, and background checks.
