RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cooks appropriate meals or snacks
- Keeps works area clean/sanitized
- Records necessary temperatures/information
- Does assigned prep work/cleaning chores
The cook prepares food following standardized recipes in appropriate quantities according to the daily diet report. They perform other related duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTSThe Cook is responsible for the handling and preparation of food in accordance with food safety guidelines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSWork requires standing for the majority of the shift. Includes lifting, bending and carrying heavy items as well as continual cleaning of work surfaces and equipment used.
SPECIAL DEMANDSAble to work well with others. Ability to follow menus, guidelines and special diets but also come up with appropriate substitutions as needed.
QUALIFICATIONSEducation:
Ability to read, speak, write and follow oral and written directions.
- Training and
Experience:
Must have some basic food preparation knowledge. The Cook works in the dietary department preparing meals and snacks for long term care residents and patients. Serv Safe certification – upon hire or within 180 days of employment. Performs other duties as assigned.
