Summary:

Dining Hall Foreperson assists Head Cook in coordination of food preparation and helps cook buffet style meals for employees/crew/customers

Note:

Dining Hall Foreperson II residing in Trident housing will be subject to a co-pay of $15 per day for room and board, for each day that at least 8 hours of work is offered.

• Responsible for food preparation and mess hall staff.
• Must demonstrate the ability to be flexible and to learn the different roles in the galley under the supervision of the Cook (Head Cook).
• Food prep, cleaning, dishwashing, baking, restocking, inventory counts.
• Performs routine deep cleaning of cooking area.
• Washes dishes and cookware, cleans tables and floors, empties trash.
• Maintains a clean working environment
• Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
• Acquire knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
• Notify designated personnel of any environmental and safety incidents, or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and or Safety training.

Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs)

• Has worked in a Foreperson I position in a trident location in the past year
• Food Handler’s card; required within 30 days of employment

Preferred education and experience

• One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Previous experience food service industry preferred.
• HS Diploma or equivalent (or degree, etc.)

Work environment (includes travel/on-call):

This position works in the kitchen where food is prepared and served. This role is subject to standing for long periods of time and must be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. The noise level in the work environment can be moderately loud. Kitchens are usually crowded and filled with potential dangers, such as hot ovens or slippery floors.

Kitchen staff must reduce risk by proper PPE. Gloves, long-sleeve shirts, aprons, and non-slip shoes to reduce the hazards of slips, falls, cuts, and burns.
