Are you ready to drive in one of the most breathtaking locations in Alaska? Join our team as a CDL Employee Shuttle Driver and play a vital role in creating an unforgettable experience on Icy Strait Point.
About the Role
The shuttle bus driver transports employees to and from Icy Strait Point in split shifts (morning and evening). Hours vary by the needs of the park and employee schedules. The position is seasonal (April — Early October 2026). Often 6–7 days a week during July and August.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Act in accordance with Icy Strait Point’s guiding principles:
Best, Authentic, and Profitable. - Transport employees and guests to and from work, including airport pickups and drop‑offs.
- Drive safely, responsibly, and maintain vehicles in safe condition following all laws and regulations.
- Perform and document safety checks in the automated system.
- Maintain a CDL with passenger endorsement.
- Deliver a first‑class experience to all employees, guests and visitors.
- Follow directives and regulations for keeping and maintaining buses in proper operating mode.
- Maintain cleanliness inside and outside vehicles as needed and scheduled.
- Complete pre‑ and post‑vehicle inspection checklists.
- Communicate with the Compliance Specialist when vehicle maintenance is required.
- Provide orientation to new employees using a checklist.
- Share knowledge about Icy Strait Point’s history, tours, food and beverage venues, retail products, and local amenities.
- Assist employees and guests in boarding and disembarking.
- Participate in all required training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Requirements
- Adequate knowledge or willingness to learn about Tlingit culture.
- Valid driver’s license and CDL with passenger endorsement.
- Pass a drug test before hiring and a DOT‑compliant medical certificate before arrival.
- Good customer service skills and professional, friendly communication with employees, guests, and others.
- Ability to learn, retain and relay general ISP information.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification is preferred.
- Physical ability to sit for extended periods, lift/carry up to 50+ pounds, and work long hours during peak season.
- Comfortable traveling by small plane or ferry to a remote setting.
- Ability to walk and drive on gravel roads in inclement weather.
