Service Contract Act (SCA) Position
Hourly Rate: $17.20 to $17.50
Duties and Responsibilities- The Recreation Aide reports to the Recreation, Fitness and Health Supervisor and is an hourly, non-exempt position.
- The Recreation Aide organizes and directs trainees in leisure-time recreation/non-vocational activities and leadership programs.
- Assists in center-sponsored trips and events including escorting and chaperoning. At times, may drive the students on trips/events.
- The Recreation Aide assists with Water Safety programming (videos, swimming certification and swim lessons) and CIS documentation- if applicable.
- May provide instructions to trainees in various recreational clubs such as sports, poetry, drama, talent shows, etc., and other creative activities, such as arts and crafts.
- Mentor students in Recreation Aide Program to help establish life skills.
- Ensures that all programs comply with DOL requirements.
- Associates of Arts degree or one (1) year of related experience working with youth.
- Prefer experience in recreation/non-vocational program.
- Must be flexible with work schedule to include weekends, holidays and/or nights.
- Valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
- Prefer a CDL with passenger transport endorsement.
- Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check.
Knowledge of a variety of recreation/non-vocational activities. Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid/AED certification. Ability to communicate effectively and relate to the trainee population. Ability to inspire and motivate trainees. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Position requires an ability to operate office equipment. In addition, an individual must be able to interact with team members and maintain an effective working relationship with all facility staff and departments.
