Job SummaryThe GEAR UP 2032 Site Coordinator plays a key role in advancing the goals of the GEAR UP 2032 initiative by providing high-quality, school-based services that promote college and career readiness, postsecondary access, and academic enrichment. Working closely with school administrators, counselors, teachers, families, and community partners, the Site Coordinator supports the development of a college-going culture and ensures students receive the targeted supports needed for long‑term success.
Coordinators follow their assigned cohort of students throughout middle and high school, ensuring continuity of services and relationship‑building that supports academic and postsecondary outcomes. This position requires strong organizational, communication, and relationship management skills, along with a commitment to equity and opportunity for all students.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Youth Development, or a related field;
Master's degree preferred. - Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with middle or high school students in an educational or youth‑serving environment.
- Strong knowledge of college and career readiness frameworks, postsecondary pathways, and financial aid processes (e.g., FAFSA, HOPE, scholarships).
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with school personnel, students, families, and community partners.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

- Ability to build trust and motivate diverse student populations toward college and career goals.
- Experience facilitating workshops, student presentations, and parent engagement sessions.
- Strong data management, tracking, and reporting skills.
- Sensitivity to the needs of underrepresented or first‑generation college students.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in fast‑paced school environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and online data tracking tools.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed for student and family engagement events.
- Implement GEAR UP college and career readiness programming in alignment with federal and state grant requirements.
- Provide students with academic planning, college awareness, goal‑setting, and career exploration resources.
- Support school counselors and staff in delivering lessons or programs on college admissions, scholarships, and financial aid.
- Facilitate workshops, field trips, and college visits for students and families.
- Track academic progress, attendance, behavior, and participation for assigned students.
- Provide individualized and small‑group support services to address academic or non‑academic barriers.
- Maintain accurate records and submit data, reports, and success stories as required by the Director of GEAR UP.
- Transition with the assigned student cohort from middle school to high school, ensuring continuity of supports and mentoring.
- Coordinate and facilitate parent/family engagement activities to increase knowledge of college readiness and available supports.
