Job SummaryThe Vice President and Chief University Growth Officer (CUGO), a visionary thought leader who will facilitate and drive growth for the university. This executive is responsible for designing, integrating, and executing a unified growth strategy across all major drivers of university visibility, reputation, and revenue. Serving as the architect and integrator of Albany State University's growth agenda, the CUGO brings together key externally-facing and revenue-generating functions including University Advancement & Alumni Relations, Marketing & Communication, University Media, Webmaster & Digital Strategies, Strategic & Corporate Partnerships, New Revenue Programs & Business Development, and Government & External Affairs.
Working cross-functionally with the Provost, Chief Business Officer, and Vice President of Strategy and University Affairs, this role ensures academic programming and institutional capacity align with enrollment growth strategies and performance metrics. Combining strategic foresight with operational excellence, the CUGO leverages data-driven insights and innovative approaches to ensure ASU operates with clarity, cohesion, and competitive strength, advancing initiatives that enhance access, engagement, and institutional impact.
ResponsibilitiesStrategic Focus Areas
- Strategic Growth Planning:
Design and execute long-term growth strategies, including new revenue program development, market diversification, and innovation initiatives aligned with institutional priorities. - Partnership Development:
Build high-impact alliances with industry, government, and academic institutions to expand offerings and strengthen market presence. - Digital Transformation:
Lead initiatives to scale the university's digital footprint through online learning platforms, global outreach, and technology-driven engagement. - Data-Driven Decision Making:
Utilize analytics, market intelligence, and forecasting to identify growth opportunities, optimize resource allocation, and measure return on investment. - Cross-Functional Leadership:
Collaborate with academic affairs, finance, advancement, athletics, and technology teams to ensure alignment and execution of growth strategies. - Government & External Affairs:
Strengthen ASU's voice in local, state, and federal arenas and champion the University as an economic engine for rural Southwest Georgia.
- Develop and implement brand strategy to elevate institutional reputation and influence.
- Optimize digital marketing and content strategies for engagement and conversion.
- Monitor and report on brand awareness, media sentiment, and campaign performance metrics.
- Serve as a strategic partner to shape a growth agenda and strategy that leverages athletics as a driver for enrollment, engagement, and institutional visibility.
- Accountable for working closely with Athletics leadership to align athletic programs with the university's growth strategy, ensuring that sports initiatives contribute to student recruitment, retention, and overall institutional success.
- Expand digital learning modalities and broaden market reach.
- Ensure financial sustainability of non-traditional and continuing education programs.
- Grow corporate partnerships and workforce development programs to meet regional and national workforce needs.
