Job SummaryThe primary duty of the Part Time Police Officer is to provide campus security by patrolling the property, monitoring surveillance equipment, inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points. Required to answer calls for service involving parking, fire, and traffic complaints. Ensure the security, safety, and well‑being of all personnel, and visitors in the campus community. Able to work flexible shifts and hours.
Required Qualifications- High school Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must be 20 years of age.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
- Must have successfully completed the certification by the Georgia Peace Officers' Standard and Training Council.
- Must be able to communicate effectively (orally and written).
Experience with a law enforcement or public safety agency helpful.
Proposed Salary$25 per hour / up to 19 hours per week.
Abilities- Ability to perform work in a professional manner meeting the requirements of a 24‑hour operation that may involve working weekends, holidays, and any weather conditions.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Capability of writing comprehensive reports outlining observations and activities during assigned shift.
- Ability to use telephone, radio, and computer equipment.
- Ability to exhibit a positive attitude when working with supervisors, coworkers, and members of the campus community in order to maintain effective service‑oriented relationships.
- Possess analytical decision‑making skills to identify problems, weigh solutions and recognize alternatives and their implications independently and quickly.
- Possess interpersonal skills to interact with the public.
- Patrol the campus on foot or in a patrol car to preserve law and order.
- Answer calls and requests involving fire, traffic or other accidents, robberies and other misdemeanors and felonies and take necessary police action.
- Conduct investigations of criminal activities, consisting of collection and identification of evidence, questioning principals and witnesses, case preparation and testifying in court. Investigate traffic accidents and perform related traffic control functions.
- Recover stolen property.
- Provide various types of public service and assistance to students, faculty, staff and visitors.
- Perform other job‑related duties as required.
