Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB) Albany is the proud home of Marine Corps Logistics Command and Marine Depot Maintenance Command/Production Plant Albany. MCLB Albany is dedicated to supporting the warfighter by providing high-quality, cost-effective installation support services to its supported commands and agencies, particularly Marine Corps Logistics Command and its components;
Marines, Sailors, and other service members (including families); civilian personnel; and the surrounding community. The base provides facilities, infrastructure, and a range of tailored support services enabling supported commands aboard the installation to accomplish their assigned missions in support of the warfighter.

Work HoursThe Government's regular working hours are from , five days per week, Monday through Friday, except observed Federal holidays. Some overtime will be required for emergencies.

Job SummaryThe Fire Protection Technician will perform maintenance, inspection, testing, installation, and repair of fire protection systems, including fire sprinklers, fire alarms, extinguishers, and suppression systems, at Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB) Albany. The role requires technical expertise to ensure systems comply with local, state, federal, and military-specific fire safety regulations, supporting the safety and operational readiness of the base.
Responsibilities- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, and testing of fire protection systems, including sprinklers, fire alarms, extinguishers, and suppression systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair fire protection equipment to ensure functionality and compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards and other applicable codes.
- Install and commission new fire protection systems in accordance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain detailed logs and service records in accordance with facility and contract requirements.
- Respond to emergency calls and participate in on-call rotations as required.
- Conduct inspections to verify compliance with local, state, federal, and military-specific fire safety regulations.
- Assist in coordinating with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure system compliance.
- Perform minor construction administration tasks, such as reviewing system installations and documenting performance.
- Ensure work areas are clean and safe upon completion of tasks.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in fire protection system maintenance, inspection, or installation.
- NICET Level I or II certification in Fire Protection (preferred) or equivalent certification.
- Knowledge of NFPA codes and standards (e.g., NFPA 13, NFPA 72).
- Proficiency in using tools and equipment for fire protection system maintenance and diagnostics.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a federal background check and drug test to obtain base access.
- Experience working on government or military contracts.
- Familiarity with Revit/AutoCAD or BIM 360 for reviewing system designs.
- Strong understanding of safety practices in industrial or government facilities.
- Experience with fire alarm control panels and suppression systems.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in various environmental conditions.
- Must be able to successfully pass a federal background screening and drug test.
- Licenses:
