Location:

Albany, Georgia. This part‑time position is posted by the City of Albany and is suitable for candidates who can safely operate a transit bus.

Job Purpose:

Safely operate a transit system bus to transport passengers on an assigned route, following all traffic safety rules and maintaining schedules.

• Drive transit system bus along the assigned route; check traffic safety rules; maintain transit schedules.
• Greet boarding passengers, collect fares and transfers, and ensure passengers enter and exit the bus safely.
• Provide passenger information and directions; maintain order on the bus; assist elderly and passengers with disabilities as needed.
• Perform pre‑trip inspections, sweep daily, empty trash cans, and fuel the bus as directed.
• Prepare accident reports, vehicle maintenance reports, and incident reports; maintain accurate passenger counts; submit reports to supervisor.
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations or vehicle breakdowns.
• Consult with other operators regarding transfers.
• Operate two‑way radio to provide information or receive advice/direction.

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least two (2) years of previous experience and/or training involving bus driving, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) including the appropriate endorsement(s).

• Data utilization and mathematical aptitude to manage passenger counts and reports.
• Human interaction skills to provide assistance and communicate effectively with passengers.
• Equipment and machinery skills to operate and maintain the transit bus.
• Verbal aptitude for clear communication of instructions and directions.
• Situational and functional reasoning to handle varied operational scenarios.
• Physical ability to exert moderate effort, stoop, kneel, carry items up to 20 pounds, and work in various environmental conditions.
