About State University Construction Fund:
The State University Construction Fund (Fund) is a New York State government entity dedicated solely to facilitating and expediting the construction, renovation, rehabilitation, and improvement of the State University of New York's academic building and infrastructure assets at 34state-operated campuses and 3 teaching hospitals.
Our offices are located within the historic SUNY System Administration headquarters in downtown Albany, New York. Though officially named the H. Carl McCall SUNY Building, it is often referred to by locals as the, "D&H Building," or affectionately, "The Castle."
The Fund offices and the adjoining employee parking garage are just steps from the Hudson River, a short walk to the Capitol Building and the Empire Plaza, and a few minutes' drive to major highways including the Northway (Interstate 87) and the New York Thruway (Interstate 90).
Job Description:The State University Construction Fund (Fund) has an opening for an Assistant Project Coordinator
to join our Design and Construction team at our office in Albany, NY.
The Assistant Project Coordinators assist with the administration of design and construction projects on the State University campuses. This individual provides administrative project support to more senior staff on larger, complex projects, while providing full project coordination efforts on smaller, less complex projects under the direction/supervision of more senior/experienced staff. This individual must be comfortable working within a team environment. Travel within New York State is required.
SpecificDuties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with project design and construction management including phase review and administration, claims review and administration, and project schedule reviews and updates.
- Assist with Job Order Contracting (JOCs) project initiations and construction.
- Assist with other miscellaneous items such as administration of project records and logs for project management, generation of reports as needed, preparation of cash flows and other data in SUCF project management systems.
- Assist with processing of consultant Extra Compensation Authorizations (ECAs), pay recs, and contract closeouts.
- Assist with processing of contractor change and field orders, pay recs and contract closeout documents.
- Under the direction/supervision of more senior/experienced staff, perform full design and construction Project Coordinator responsibilities on smaller, less complex projects including:
- Coordinate and manage meetings between campus personnel, consultants, contractors, etc.
- Review all documents submissions for programmatic requirements, for compliance with SUCF Bulletins and Directives, for technical adherence, for constructability and for building code compliance.
- Obtain/maintain certification as a Code Enforcement Officer and issue building permits, certificates of occupancy/compliance and regulatory items required in the management of projects.
- Manage and coordinate bidding and award of projects and act as liaison between Campus, consultants, contractors, etc.
- Perform Periodic job site inspections, process change/field orders, ECAs and payment applications.
- Participate in the resolution of construction issues, perform construction close out tasks, participate in final inspections, issue certificates of occupancy/compliance, etc.
- Participate in selection committees as required.
- Perform other duties as directed.
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related field, and a minimum of 5 years of working experience in the design or construction industry. Capable of working within a team environment. Fundamental understanding of design and/or construction practices and office procedures. Ability to interpret contract documents. Interest in Net Zero Carbon, sustainable design and construction approaches, and multiple project delivery methodologies are a plus.
This position does not require a NYS Civil Service examination.
Additional Information:Salary range:$91,464- $115,252 per year,commensurate with experience and qualifications.
