St. Peter’s Health Partners (SPHP) is affiliated with Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, Buffalo NY. RPCI Oncology, PC will employ the physicians associated with the hematology/oncology program.
Physicians see between 15-18 patient/day (Physician may see a higher volume of patients if desired).APPs see about 10-12 patients/day.Physicians don’t have any patients when rounding at the hospital.Average Daily Hospital Census:20-30 patients/day.Office schedules and call patient loads are all manageable/equitable.Average Albany Clinic Volume: 50—80 patients/day.
Average Daily Infusion Visit Volume: 30—38 patients/day.Average Troy Clinic Volume: 40 patients/day. Average Daily Infusion Visit Volume: 15-20 patients/day.Nurses, APPs, and MDs may administer antineoplastic agents.MDs and APPs administer intrathecal, intralesion, and intracavity.Bone marrow and FNA biopsies are primarily done by Interventional Radiology.Nurses manage VAD catheters.Intrapleural therapies are administered in the inpatient setting.Roswell Park and SPHP are collaboratively pursuing clinical trials at SPHP.Oncology Service Line mix is approximately 80% oncology, 20% benign hematology.Oncology Services Line is moving toward a 1:1 MD:
APP model.Patient Demographic
All socio-economic backgroundsPatient ages range from Geriatric to Young Adult (no pediatrics).High volumes of pancreatic, breast, colon, and urology.Lower volumes of melanoma and renal.Physicians have most of specialties available within SPHP system(Thoracic, GI, H&N, and GU).GI group is private but collaborates well with SPHP Oncology Service Line.SPHP Oncology Service Line does not manage acute leukemias.SPHP Oncology Service Line does not have a BMT/TCT program currently.Oncology Services Line has dedicated APPs for inpatient service and dedicated APPs for outpatient services

SPHP Nursing achieved Magnet designation in 2022Physicians have a Primary Nurse who handles triage calls and paperworkDedicated Nurses are assigned in the Albany and Troy clinic – Nurses room patients, etc.4 Full time Pharmacists–Mix Chemo, available to assist w/ questions–very approachable.
Call Responsibilities
1:5 schedule for inpatient consult/call responsibility.1:7 schedule is the future goal.Consult Service:
Hospitalists admit patients and dedicated inpatient APPs manage patients.After hours Call Responsibility:
Monday–Thursday every 5 weeks.Weekend Call Responsibility:
Friday – Sunday every 5 weeks.EMR:EPICTumor Boards:GU, GI, Breast, Thoracic, General.
Virtual Access to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center’s subspecialized Tumor Boards.
Qualifications
