The State University of New York (SUNY), the nation s largest and most comprehensive system of public higher education, invites applications for the position of Staff Associate for EOC Operations in the office of the University Center for Academic and Workforce Development (UCAWD) in Albany, New York. The mission of UCAWD is to promote the social and economic well-being of the academically and economically underserved residents of the State of New York by developing and maintaining quality education and workforce training programs and services through our Educational Opportunity Centers (EOCs) and Advanced Technology Training And Information Networking (ATTAIN) labs.
Working as part of a professional team, the Staff Associate for EOC Operations is responsible for examining policies that relate to EOC operations; monitoring field operations; analyzing reports; reviewing proposals; recommending comprehensive program strategies; and researching public and private funding for extending academic and workforce development program offerings.
Reporting to the Director of Academic Affairs
, responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Assisting with the development and maintenance of effective relationships and strategic partnerships with various stakeholders that support the objectives and goals of Educational Opportunity Centers and UCAWD.
- Assisting in the development of standardized policies and procedures consistent with SUNY s sixty-four (64) colleges and universities, CUNY colleges and universities, and the Research Foundation for SUNY.
- Reviewing and evaluating new and existing program plans and Operational Plans utilizing labor trend analysis, EOC Guidelines, Memorandum of Understanding and/or Contract.
- Accessing and presenting data in ways that foster system improvement and growth.
- Monitoring program effectiveness based on site reviews and data from the Management Systems and seminal reports such as Final Reports, Financial Plans, Continuous Improvement Plans, Monthly Expenditure Reports and ATTAIN Implementation Plans.
- Understanding internal policies, EOC Guidelines and State University of New York rules and regulations and provide information to the field on same.
- Managing compliance with EOC Guidelines, Memorandum of Understanding and/or Contract based on site visits, campus reports and/or interviews.
- Taking the lead on developing system orientation materials.
- Reviewing and evaluating fiscal reporting from EOCs to UCAWD.
- Assisting in the development of EOC Operational meetings, conferences or professional development opportunities.
- Assisting in the development of long and short-term goals for EOC Operations, which are consistent with SUNY s goals and objectives.
- Effectively communicating the objectives, goals, purpose and achievements of Educational Opportunity Centers and UCAWD.
- Assisting with the development of an annual program report and public relations materials/publications.
- Serve on UCAWD committees, as requested by the Director of Academic Affairs.
- Assisting in the negotiation of sensitive and confidential program concerns with campus presidents or their designee and UCAWD leadership.
- Working with host campus personnel (HR, Business and Finance, Buildings, IT, etc.), including campus presidents or their designee, with the management of Educational Opportunity Centers in conjunction with UCAWD leadership.
- Assisting with the review of leases, contracts and Memorandum of Understandings.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Master s degree in higher education, counseling, administration or related area.
- Minimum of five (5) years professional experience with increasing responsibility in an educational or business setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member to ensure goals are met.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities, projects and work deadlines, and ensure timely follow-up.
- Some knowledge of curriculum development, assessment, and evaluation.
- Proficiency in utilizing current technologies, social media and computer business applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Statewide travel required.
- Experience working directly with adult programs that serve diverse populations and underserved students.
- Experience evaluating educational programs.
- Experience managing and/or assessing expenditure reporting.
- Project management, grant writing and public relations experience.
- Experience working on personnel matters.
