Universal Network Development Corporation (UNDC) has been a provider of high-quality consulting services to the telecommunications industry since 1980. UNDC is a fast-growing, highly respected telecom network engineering firm that is currently expanding our operations. We collaborate closely with several broadband providers including AT&T and Verizon, engineering new and replacement fiber optic networks.

UNDC is seeking an experienced telecom Field Engineer. Field engineers report field conditions to design engineers who accurately design outside plant networks. They are responsible for both aerial and underground data collection while validating a viable cost-effective path for engineering. Most field work is conducted outdoors along public right of way, utility easements, and private property.

This is a full-time position that requires extensive travel and working outdoors. Travel will include driving (vehicle provided) and air travel.

• Daily travel to job site(s) using personal vehicle or company provided rental, ensuring that personal vehicle and UNDC provided tools are maintained to company safety standards.
• Mileage reimbursement for vehicle use.
• At times, may be required to interface with customers, landowners and represent UNDC and its clients in a positive and professional manner.

General

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to accommodate travel in rented vehicle provided by UNDC along with satisfactory driving record.
• Highly organized, self-starter, and strong attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
• Superior time management with ability to prioritize work on several projects.
• Ability to be flexible, take direction with ease, including changes to schedule and workflow priorities.
• Ability to follow direction in maintaining all Field Safety standards.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Physical

• Ability to stand, stoop, squat and bend for extended periods of time.
• Ability to look up for extended periods of time.
• Ability to walk for extended periods of time and/or long distances.
• Ability to navigate through potential uneven walkways/terrain.
• Tolerant to extreme elements (heat, sun, wind, rain, snow, etc.).
• Good vision and depth perception (corrective lenses OK).
• Ability to sit and drive for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift 10 lbs. – 50 lbs.

Technical

• Proficiency with cellular communications in a business environment.
• Ability to upload/download and edit documents in Project Management software.
• Ability to quickly learn new systems.

• Understanding of telecommunications design and the ability to support engineering.
• Experience as a telecommunication outside technician (OSP Line Tech, Splicer, Installation Tech, OSP Maintenance Tech) is preferred.
• Basic knowledge and experience of telecommunications engineering standards and construction techniques.
• Basic knowledge of Make-Ready Construction.
