The Deputy Commissioner for Tax Audits
The Deputy Commissioner for Tax Audits leads New York State's tax audit function, overseeing a staff of over 1,100 responsible for conducting fair and effective tax audits. The position develops audit strategies, modernizes tax enforcement practices, and establishes policies to ensure efficient, consistent audits. The Deputy Commissioner participates in strategic departmental initiatives and represents the Division in budget and external professional discussions.
KeyQualifications
- Ten years of specialized experience with tax audits in the public or private sector
- Five years of experience at a managerial level
- Ability to lead and manage large teams
- Strategic thinking on tax enforcement and modernization
- Experience with policy development and professional development programs
