Location: City of Albany
This Budget Examiner position is part of the New York State Division of the Budget's Health Unit, where analysts develop in-depth knowledge of health programs, draft policy recommendations, and manage fiscal planning for the State's health portfolio. The Public Health Team Section oversees the non-Medicaid components of the Department of Health budget, encompassing more than 184 programs across various health policy areas.
Successful candidates will work on budget development, appropriations, workforce management, and solutions addressing care and financing needs for vulnerable populations. The role requires collaborative problem-solving, data synthesis, and attention to detail in supporting the State's fiscal and policy objectives.
- One year of permanent competitive service as a Budget Examiner, G-18, or eligibility for Section 52.6 transfer from G-16 and above
- Fluency in Excel formulas and functions, and other Microsoft applications
- Strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills
- Interest in health care finance and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Demonstrated analytical ability, objectivity, flexibility, and adaptability
