Compensation: Paid $20/hr, full-time internship

Position Overview:The Clarence Petty Legislative Internship offers a unique opportunity for a recent graduate to gain firsthand experience in environmental policy and state-level advocacy. Working in the Council’s Albany office, the intern will support the Government Relations team in advancing the Council’s legislative and programmatic goals.
Key Responsibilities:- Track and analyze legislation
- Draft memos and correspondence to legislators and state agencies
- Deliver legislative materials and attend lobby meetings at the State Capitol
- Support the organization during advocacy days and coalition activities
- Conduct research on environmental and public policy issues
- Monitor media coverage and distribute relevant updates to staff
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Environmental Policy, Public Administration, Environmental Studies, or a related field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Interest in New York State government, environmental policy, and advocacy
- Exposure to legislative processes and environmental policy making in New York State
- Mentorship and professional development with the Government Relations team
- Networking opportunities with legislators, advocates, and partner organizations
- Experience representing a leading statewide environmental organization
