Salary Range: $37,440.00 - $48,672.00
- Perform all Sterile Processing functions: retrieval and decontamination of soiled/used surgical instrumentation; inspect, assemble, and package delicate instrumentation; operate sterilization equipment; transport supplies, build case carts for the operating room, process instrumentation, operate cleaning equipment, and replenish stocks. Expected to rotate through all area functions.
- Perform routine key entry of data involving SPD produced items into a computerized inventory management system. Use the T‑DOC instrument tracking computer system. Assemble parts into identical finished products according to established procedures.
- Have strong knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including meaning, spelling, composition rules, and grammar. Must read, speak, write, and interpret English to adequately perform critical thinking and interpretation of the OR’s and manufacturers’ IFUs. Communicate verbally and in writing with all sterile processing customers.
- Identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Solve practical problems and handle situations with limited standardization. Interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Regularly stand, walk, use hands to probe, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, and speak and hear.
- Occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Regularly push loads up to 120 pounds and perform repetitive loading/unloading of products up to 40 pounds.
- Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Level 1 – tasks involve possible exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue; probability of exposure is a condition of employment.
- Handle both clean and soiled sharp instruments, needles, and cleaning chemicals; meticulously reassemble fine surgical instrumentation.
- Risk of skin burns (steam burns), heat exposure (hot metal objects up to 270°F), and hazardous chemicals (Hydrogen Peroxide, Glutaraldehyde, etc.).
- Must observe and practice universal precautions.
