Business Analyst

The Business Analyst will support critical program initiatives by gathering business requirements, analyzing workflows, creating data models, and developing business intelligence solutions. This role requires expertise in Cognos, SQL, data modeling, and analytics, along with strong communication skills and domain knowledge in social services or similar fields.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather, analyze, and document complex business requirements and translate them into functional and non-functional specifications.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of business processes, workflows, and data to identify gaps, opportunities, and system enhancements.
  • Create, update, and troubleshoot Cognos Framework Manager and Transformer models to support reporting and analytics needs.
  • Develop and modify Cognos reports, ensuring accuracy, usability, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Perform advanced SQL analysis, including complex queries, multi-table joins, and conditional formatting.
  • Test and validate reports, dashboards, and analytics deliverables; lead troubleshooting efforts.
  • Document findings, technical details, and recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Present analytical insights and complex data issues to business partners, leadership, and project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with teams across social services or related fields to align technical solutions with business needs.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years experience in business requirements gathering, analysis, and logical solution design.
  • 7+ years experience creating and modifying Cognos Framework Manager & Transformer models, including troubleshooting.
  • 7+ years experience developing and modifying Cognos reports.
  • 7+ years experience with SQL for reporting and analysis, including complex queries and multi-table joins.
  • 7+ years experience testing analytics/reporting solutions and documenting complex data issues.
  • 7+ years experience working within social services or related fields.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Cognos:
    Framework Manager, Transformer, Report Studio
  • SQL: complex joins, analytical functions, formatting
  • Data modeling and analytics
  • Report and dashboard development
  • Requirement gathering and process analysis
  • Strong communication and presentation skills

Compensation: $53.61 per hour
