    OVERVIEW

    The Community Sponsorship Developer will be responsible for implementing Good Neighbor Teams, a program designed to:

    • Expand and strengthen engagement of local community groups, faith-based organizations, and businesses in the welcoming and integration of refugees;
    • Empower sponsored families and individuals to more successfully integrate into their new communities and become more fully independent;
    • Build awareness of and support for forcibly displaced populations in the Capital Region of New York State, increasing positive and welcoming attitudes towards refugees, asylum-seekers, and other forcibly displaced populations;
    • Seed the larger landscape for Community Sponsorship (CS) through presentations and other dissemination activities to affiliate USCRI field offices and other organizations that support forcibly displaced populations.

    The position will report to the Field Office Director and work in coordination with other program staff as needed. The ideal candidate will be flexible with strong interpersonal skills, open to taking on varied responsibilities, and a self-starter.

    USCRI has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccine policy. All employees must be fully vaccinated to work at any / all locations at USCRI.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Recruit and train CS groups, facilitate appropriate matches of CS groups with newly arrived refugee families, support the match for the duration of the agreed co-sponsorship timeframe;
    • Reach out to and educate community groups, faith-based organizations, and businesses about CS and its benefits, for both sponsors and the populations served, through presentations, newsletters, social media, and direct outreach;
    • Manage the process for matching sponsors to families/individuals, which may include questionnaires, and match sponsors to families/individuals;
    • Update the program design as needed based on best practices in the field and engaging with the broader sponsorship ecosystem;
    • Engage with the broader sponsorship ecosystem to incorporate the lessons learned and other relevant experience of other CS programs;
    • Develop a presentation to share the program and its benefits with other organizations and field offices;
    • Keep detailed records and manage data for tracking goals and grant reporting purposes to ensure that grant requirements are met and program activities remain within allowable services as described in grant;
    • Prepare grant reports, as required by funder;
    • Develop and maintain MOUs with each CS group;
    • Advocate for and promote awareness of refugee populations to promote community acceptance;
    • Coordinate and facilitate outreach events;
    • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and participant feedback to improve outcomes;
    • Ensure provision of appropriate interpretation;
    • Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
