Job DescriptionOregon Youth Authority invites qualified female applicants to join the Oak Creek Youth Correctional Facility as an Institution Registered Nurse. As the Health Services Clinic Nurse, you will promote and maintain the physical and mental health of our youth in custody. You will provide comprehensive health care services and direct professional nursing care to youth with physical and mental health complaints.
You will also develop health care plans for the youth.
- Hold daily sick-call and as-needed evaluations.
- Initiate appropriate treatment according to current medical and nursing treatment plans of care.
- Evaluate youth returning from unauthorized absence and parole violations according to standard procedure.
- Provide emergency and first aid evaluations and treatment, sustaining vital functions, and refer patients to appropriate emergency provider.
- Assist medical, dental, psychiatric, and psychological providers with examination and reports.
- Perform destruction of unused or outdated medication.
- Carry out discharge planning functions to ensure continuity of care and educate youth regarding health conditions, health care needs, and medication prior to discharge.
- Carry out physician/dentist/nurse practitioner orders, ensuring they are appropriate, and evaluate effectiveness of care, adjusting as needed while adhering to best practices.
- Collect laboratory specimens and samples for testing and analysis.
- Maintain accurate, legible, and complete records of patient care in the electronic Medical record (HER) including chart documentation, objective data collection, treatment provided, evaluation of treatment effectiveness, patient education provided, and writing of nursing care plans.
- Enter essential youth-related health information into the Juvenile Justice Information System (JJIS).

- Shift information: varied shifts covering not only Oak Creek YCF but all statewide clinic facilities.
- The salary range listed is the non-PERS participating rate. PERS members or eligible employees will receive a 6% increase in salary after eligibility.

- Position is gender‑specific (female only) and designated as a Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ).
- Possess a valid Oregon Registered Professional Nurse's License at the time of appointment.
- Possess an active CPR card.
- Driving is an essential function; a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required.
- Experience working with an Electronic Health Record System.
- Knowledge of medical ethics.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Experience prioritizing and completing work assignments with specified deadlines.

Oak Creek Youth Correctional Facility is a secure juvenile correctional facility with a budgeted capacity of 50 female youth in custody, plus a transition program with a capacity of 14 youth. There are 86 total staff employed at Oak Creek campus.
