Job Description:Reporting to the Assistant Director Research Protection, the Regulatory & Research Compliance Analyst (RCA) provides support to the University at Albany's (UAlbany) research compliance mission. The Office of Regulatory and Research Compliance (ORRC) supports faculty, staff and students to conduct research with integrity, safety. The RCA works with researchers, research compliance committee members, and other University offices to ensure researchers, the Research Foundation for SUNY and UAlbany are able to meet regulatory, sponsor and policy obligations.
The RCA assists researchers in adhering to regulations governing research, creative and scholarly pursuits. This includes research with human subjects and animal use in research, teaching and training, federal and state regulations, state law, university policies, and the ethical principles that apply to research. The incumbent will support the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for human subjects' protections, and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) by providing professional analytical and technical assistance to researchers to carry out their work.
Functions
The incumbent must have demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as diplomacy, discretion, and professionalism; excellent organizational skills and ability to set appropriate priorities between multiple concurrent tasks. The incumbent must also be able to analyze and synthesize complex concepts and technical details and transfer into written documents. The RCA must be flexible and able to work independently as well as collegially within team-oriented environment.
Additionally, the RCA will assist office leadership in developing and implementing education and outreach program based on federal, state, and University regulations/policies, including advising researchers, conducting training (e.g., class lectures, department seminars, special topics sessions), and developing education/outreach materials (e.g., email outreach, website content, informational slide decks). Perform other duties as required supporting ORRC in accomplishing its mission.
This role operates under a hybrid work arrangement, with a mandatory in-person presence of no less than 50% each biweekly period.
Job Requirements:Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
- Two (2) or more years of professional experience focused on administration, compliance and integrity, export administration, risk management, audit setting or other related professional field.
- Must be a problem-solver, well organized, efficient, and capable of prioritizing multiple tasks and requests simultaneously.
- The successful candidate will be self-directed, have proven ability to prioritize duties and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment; has proven ability to work independently and in an interrelated team environment.
- Have demonstrated ability to effectively interact with constituencies at all levels (faculty, staff, students, etc.) and be able to provide university researchers with superior administrative support to facilitate efficient, effective review processes and ethical research.
- Have excellent communication (interpersonal, written, and oral), customer service.
- Have excellent computer skills - particularly Microsoft Suite, Access Database, SharePoint, Zoom.
- Must have the ability and experience to work with a culturally diverse population.
- Master's Degree and demonstrated experience in public policy, law, research ethics, risk management or related field;
- Professional certification in export controls, human subject research protections, animal welfare, or research administration certification at the time of hire;
- General knowledge of ethics and compliance concepts, such as standards of conduct, business ethics, best practices, hotline management, and managing compliance related issues;
- Experience working in a research-intensive institution of higher education;
- Experience in audit and oversight responsibility;
- Experience in active research setting that included human subjects and/or lab animal research;
- Experience writing and/or interpreting research policy;
- Experience in a team-based professional setting and working with constituent groups; or
- Experience using database systems and managing electronic information.

Additional Information:Salary Range:
$50,000-$60,000 (DOE)
