Mobile Diesel Technician Level II – responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The Technician can perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs under the supervision of a Sr Mobile Diesel Technician or higher, while continuing to learn additional advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques.

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
• Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, air conditioning systems, and more.
• Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
• Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
• Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and generate and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment.
• Independently manage parts inventory on the company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation.
• Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections.
• Work closely with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
• Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations effectively.
• Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
• Document work according to company standards, uploading photos and parts information on Repair Orders using the proprietary TRAIT iOS application.
• Accurately complete DOT forms and all other required documentation in a timely fashion.
• Work independently and manage own daily schedule.
• Maintain a high level of productivity in accordance with standard repair times.
• Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed.
• Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone for repair estimates and purchase order numbers.
• Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
• Maintain the company‑issued service truck, conduct safety checks, and perform daily pre‑/post‑trip inspections.

• High School Diploma/GED with 3+ years of experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Possess a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
• Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
• Must successfully complete a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical; a valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining may be accepted in lieu of a physical.
• Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
• Safe drivers required; a valid state driver’s license is mandatory, and the candidate must obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
