The City of Albany is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking leader to oversee its wastewater and stormwater programs within Public Works Operations. This critical leadership position is responsible for managing complex utility systems that protect public health, preserve environmental quality, and support a sustainable community—including the Albany-Millersburg Water Reclamation Facility, Talking Water Gardens treatment wetland, wastewater collection system, stormwater conveyance and treatment infrastructure, and Environmental Services programs.
Reporting to the Public Works Operations Manager, this role provides strategic direction, operational oversight, and regulatory compliance leadership across multiple utility programs. The successful candidate will guide supervisors and staff, manage budgets and capital improvement projects, ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, and champion continuous improvement, safety, and customer service. - City-paid contribution to a VEBA Trust account for out-of-pocket healthcare expenses. Beginning January 1, 2026, the annual contribution will be $2,000 for employee-only and $4,000 for employee plus dependent(s).

This position administers and provides leadership to the Wastewater and stormwater programs within Public Works Operations. Manages the operation of the Albany-Millersburg Water Reclamation Facility, Talking Water Gardens treatment wetland, Environmental Services, the wastewater collection system, and stormwater conveyance and treatment systems. Plans, organizes, controls, and directs the activities of the assigned section and associated supervisors and lead workers. Performs other related work as required.
