The Albany Fire department seeks to fill a two-year limited duration federally grant funded position. Although the City is actively working towards long term funding to extend the assignment, continued funding is not guaranteed. This position is not eligible to participate in State conflagration deployments while under grant funding.

The Deputy Fire Marshal is responsible for promoting community safety through code enforcement, fire investigation, and risk reduction through technical expertise and authority in interpreting and applying fire and building regulations. The role ensures compliance with City ordinances and State fire codes, supports safe development and occupancy of buildings, and contributes to citywide preparedness and resilience. Work is performed with independence and requires strong judgment, collaboration with internal departments and external agencies, and the ability to communicate complex regulatory requirements to diverse audiences.
