Emergence is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SUD Counselor to work in our Albany, Oregon office to provide encouragement and assistance to help participants in treatment achieve long-term recovery, connect with the local recovery community, and navigate local resources. Signing Bonus:
Up to $3,500, prorated to hours worked.

- Manages client flow in Albany office with little direct supervision.
- Manages all aspects of a case from date of entry to date of discharge.
- Evaluates patients physical and mental behaviors.
- Develops appropriate treatment and recovery plans.
- Facilitates individual and group therapy sessions.
- Monitors patients over time to assess treatment progress.
- Collaborates with psychiatrists, doctors, nurses, social workers, and departments of correction as appropriate.
- Identifies behaviors that interfere with treatment and recovery.
- Assists primary caregivers to manage addiction-related behavior.
- Associate degree in chemical dependency counseling, or a bachelor’s degree with coursework in chemical dependency preferred, but not required.
- Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor I or II (CADC-I or CADC-II), or similar preferred, but not required.
- Ability to be certified in the specific competency within 2 years of hire.
- Previous experience with the treatment of substance use disorders preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems like Carelogic would be advantageous.
- Experience with co-occurring health and mental health problems.
- Application of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services (SAMHSA) best practice indicators.
- In-depth knowledge of drug and alcohol testing to monitor treatment plans and medical instructions.
- Self-starter, capable of carrying out multiple tasks in a timely manner.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a compassionate nature.
- Ability to work Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.
