Primary
Purpose:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for driving quality forward by effective communication both internally and externally.
- Maintain configuration control documentation through contract review and blueprint/specification control.
- Work independently managing multiple customer accounts, including OEMs and sub tiers; serve as backup QE for additional customers.
- Collaborate with Engineering to submit waivers and concessions as required.
- Review and submit First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
- Investigate and disposition customer complaints and returns.
- Communicate and submit Corrective Actions as needed to customers and internally.
- Review purchase orders for customer related items.
- Act as internal quality representative for internal and external customers.
- Achieve certification for customer source inspection; complete training and certification.
- Work continuous improvement projects.
- Provide training/coaching as needed.
- Act as Internal Auditor; participate in internal audits, external audits, special process audits, and customer audits.
- Serve as subject matter expert on customer specific requirements.
- May be assigned various other duties.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 4+ years as a Quality Engineer or comparable quality discipline.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint; basics of using network folders.
- Able to upload and download information from customer websites.
- Communicate effectively via direct interactions in person, conference call, group meetings, and indirectly via email.
- Write clear instructions for others to follow successfully.
- Well organized and able to multi-task effectively, using other resources to accomplish tasks.
- Ability and willingness to work in a high‑paced team‑oriented environment.
- Positive attitude and willingness to get the job done.
- Read and understand blueprints, detailed customer specifications and requirements.
- Work independently and be self‑directed.
- Experience in castings industry; experience with ISO
9001 or AS9100 preferred but not required.
