Job Summary

Performs basic catering service duties for Culinary Arts Catering, including preparation of food items, serving and set‑up and/or take‑down of events, and assists Catering Division employees with other tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Food Handler’s card or obtain within 30 days of employment.

Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have a current Food Handler’s card or must obtain it within 30 days of employment.

Knowledge and Skills

• High school level reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
• Knowledge of kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Understanding of safety and sanitation practices.
• Strong customer relations skills.

Abilities

• Ability to independently carry out duties.
• Understand and follow instructions and safety materials.
• Understand and follow labels for detergents and chemicals.
• Handle food and equipment meeting health standards.
• Work safely around hot surfaces and kitchen equipment.
• Receive and carry out written and oral instructions.
• Work within a team and promote harmonious relationships.
• Interact with customers positively.
• Work respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum one year experience in food service with knife, meat slicer, dishwasher, deep fryer, flat top grill, convection oven, range, and robot coupe food processor.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Long periods standing, light to medium work, kneeling, carrying and lifting 10–50 pounds.
• Must operate a computer and general office equipment.
• Communicate effectively in person and over the phone.
• Work is normally performed in a kitchen setting with safety hazards.
• Some weekend and evening hours may be required.
• Occasional travel to off‑site may be required.

Essential Duties

• Prepare for catering events by setting up buffets before the start time and cleaning up after.
• Prepare food & beverages for event orders according to customers’ specifications in an efficient and accurate manner.
• Maintain positive and respectful communication with kitchen crew and clients.
• Keep work and service area safe, sanitary and orderly.
• Clean preparation and service equipment.
• Restock work stations for needed supplies and notify Catering Lead of items needing to be ordered.
• Wash dishes and assist with cleaning in other areas as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Compensation Information

• All Part‑time Classified employees begin at Step 1 of the salary schedule.
• Step increases are subject to eligibility and take place at the end of the Fiscal Year in July if approved.
• Part‑time Classified employees are paid once monthly on the last day of the month.

• LBCC offers a pay incentive to eligible employees who demonstrate proficiency in conversational Spanish.

• All new employees are required to be compensated via direct deposit.
• Offers of employment are contingent on the applicant having Oregon residency at the time work commences.
