* Leads and promotes safety, attends safety meetings and strictly observes safety rules. Ensure any injury or accident is reported immediately, and investigated promptly.
* Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, vendors, co-workers and management.
* Builds strong relationships with all branch personnel and create open communication with branch managers to grow and support business.
* Develops sales objectives for the territory and recommends appropriate action.
* Achieves profitable sales targets in the assigned territory through sales of all products, related gas handling and safety equipment.
* Increases sales and profit margin through penetration to assigned accounts and by closing new accounts.
* May provides customer specific safety training in compressed gas handling and cryogenics.
* Answers customer inquiries and satisfactorily resolves customer complaints.
* Actively pursue and acquire, on an on-going basis, new and competitive accounts with emphasis on gases, business and product supply agreements.
* Expands existing customer base with all product lines from Airgas Nor Pac inventory.
* Maintains and upgrades selling skills and technical/product knowledge.
* Completes Daily use of Salesforce, ensuring data accuracy and completeness in all entries and updates..
* Prepares annual sales analysis and forecasts for the manager.
* Provides market and competitor information to the manager.
* Maintains a professional and neat appearance of self and vehicle when representing the company.
* Ensures customer inquiries related to billing problems, cylinder balances, order status, and time of delivery are promptly and courteously handled, providing follow-up as necessary.
* Manages pricing strategies and gross margins of assigned accounts.
* Schedules joint sales calls with vendors and Airgas Product Specialists.
* Airgas associates are encouraged to act with care, adapt to our environment and engage to trust and grow - core tenets within the Be, Act, Engage framework of employee performance.
* At least three years’ experience in industrial outside sales is recommended.
* Some experience in handling compressed gases and welding knowledge is preferred.
* Customer service or sales experience in the local market is recommended.
* Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines
* Must possess a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and appropriate level of auto insurance coverage.
* Must have reliable transportation and be able to work flexible hours to meet management expectations.
* Must have proficient computer skills using Google systems and CRM system (specifically ).
* Must be comfortable with public speaking and presenting information in front of a group.
* Possess strong interpersonal and oral communication skills to communicate effectively with a diverse group of associates, management, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the general public.
