Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on a course-by-course, semester basis, as needed. Responsibilities include teaching developmental and/or college-level courses, which may include distance-learning courses during the day and evening, on weekdays and weekends. Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education that serves Central Virginia – principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. • Teaching Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) content in classroom and campus laboratories.
• Design course syllabi and develop course materials related to DMS.
• Maintain excellent knowledge of sonography equipment and hands‑on lab practice.
• Teaching load based on student enrollment and staffing needs.

• May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
• May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

• Active RDMS credentials from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography in specialty area of both abdomen and Ob/Gyn.
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in the teaching field with demonstrated competencies.
• Minimum of 2 years full‑time related occupational experience as a sonographer.
• Knowledge of computers and online instructional technologies (Canvas).
• Excellent oral/written communication skills.
• Skilled in teaching lecture, online, and/or hands‑on laboratory courses.

• Multiple professional registry credentials (RVT and RDCS).
• Prior teaching experience.
