Schedule Details/Additional Information:

This position is a 3:3 schedule, working 3 12‑hour shifts. Resulting in 36 hours weekly and 72 hours bi‑weekly, with a rotation of weekends and holidays.

Pay Range:

US $22.50 – US $33.75

Major Responsibilities:
  • Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows all policies and procedures, and maintains training and competency as required for patient care.
  • Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health, etc.).
  • Assists providers or performs procedures as ordered.
  • Performs laboratory duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking; performs POCT and completes CLIA‑approved waived laboratory tests.
  • Administers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration.
  • Performs other duties such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals.
  • Communicates effectively, works as part of a team, and escalates appropriately.
  • Maintains a clean work environment, ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned and stocked.
  • May assist in training and onboarding of new teammates.
  • May serve as a role champion or committee member.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills for age‑specific patient care, assessing data and interpreting information to meet each patient’s needs.
Minimum

Job Requirements Education - Greater Charlotte
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent clinical military training.
Education - IL/WI Divisions
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited or approved Medical Assistant program, or 2 years of verifiable full‑time MA experience within last 5 years.
Education - Wake Forest
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or military training equivalent.
Education - Floyd & Navicent
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited or approved Medical Assistant program, or 2 years of verifiable MA experience within last 5 years.
Certification / License - Greater Charlotte
  • Current AHA BLS certification required.
  • Successful completion of Atrium Health competency assessment.
  • Recognized or certified as a CMA or RMA by an approved national organization (AAMA, NHA, NHCWA, NCCT, ARMA, AMT, NAHP, NRMA).
  • Successful completion of system‑approved trainer program for new teammates.
Certification / License - IL/WI Divisions
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers certification issued by AHA required within 45 days.
  • Certified or registered as CMA or RMA by approved national organizations.
Certification / License - Wake Forest
  • Current AHA BLS certification required.
  • Certified or registered as CMA or RMA by approved national organizations.
Certification / License - Floyd & Navicent
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers certification issued by AHA required within 45 days.
  • Certified or registered as CMA or RMA by approved national organizations.
Experience
  • Two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within MA scope after demonstrated competency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport and maintain positive professional relationships.
  • Proficient computer skills, including keyboarding, windows navigation, and use of electronic medical records.
  • Demonstrates customer-service skills that support a positive patient experience.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs without assistance; for >35 lbs patient lifts, use equipment with at least one other team member when available.
