Hospice Nursing Assistant (CNA) role at VIA Health Partners

- Delivery of patient care
- Provide personal care (ADL) as part of patient care, including:
- Bathing (assistance with bed bath, tub bath, shower, and sitz)
- Body mechanics (turn and position, transfers, use of lifts, ambulation assistance, range of motion)
- Nutrition (prepare for meals, assist with feeding, monitor intake and output)
- Elimination (bedpan/urinal, catheter care where applicable, specimen collection, etc.)
- Safety (side rails, infection control, hand hygiene, isolation techniques, universal precautions)
- Special procedures (vital signs, measurements, wound care, dressings, postmortem care, etc.)
- Housekeeping and ensuring a healthy, safe environment for patient/family/caregiver
- Participation in interdisciplinary team conferences (IDT) and special case conferences
- Clinical progression paths depending on NA level
- NA 1+4:
Additional responsibilities include sterile wound care, ostomy care/irrigation, limited urinary catheter replacement after nursing assessment, oxygen therapy setup and monitoring - NA II:
Additional responsibilities include fecal impaction management, IV fluid activities, enteral feeding activities, suctioning, tracheostomy care, enhanced wound and ostomy care, oxygen therapy, and active IDT participation
- High School diploma preferred; related field training/certification required
- Certified Nursing Assistant; maintain current listing status
- NA certification in good standing with NC Department of Health and Human Services
- Minimum 1 year of experience required; experience in home care, geriatrics or terminal illness preferred
