Job DescriptionIn addition to traditional teller responsibilities, the Deposit & Customer Service Specialist supports the bank’s more complex relationships through in-depth knowledge of all our products and services. This position plays a critical role in enhancing customer service efficiencies through operational expertise, implementation of business process improvements, and training within the Operations team. It also contributes to deposit growth through business client development and community engagement.
As the first point of contact for nearly every customer interaction, customer service specialists are the smiling face and helpful hands of our business.
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and engaged customer service to foster a welcoming and positive experience for customers and coworkers.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of all bank products and services.
- Recognize customer needs and identify opportunities to meet or exceed expectations.
- Champion the customer experience by supporting staff across all branches—especially with NEW products and complex account openings, deposits, closures, and development of loyal, long-term depositors.
- Make referrals for loans and related products and assist customers with their applications.
- Support the bank’s involvement in community events and goodwill initiatives.
- Support central bank operations with in-depth knowledge of core banking system and office productivity tech and tools.
- Cross-train to develop competency to provide back-up support of all critical bank operations, staff training, and/or supervision.
- Process customer deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and loan payments.
- Assist customers with online banking, mobile banking, and related services.
- Provide retail banking services such as opening new accounts, debit cards, certificates of deposit (CDs), money orders, wire transfers, and safe deposit boxes.
- Understand and comply with applicable laws, regulations, and compliance policies, including the Bank Secrecy Act, consumer privacy/protection laws, and funds availability policies.
- Ensure assigned cash is secure, accurately balanced according to bank procedures, and maintained within policy limits (includes cash drawer, vault, and ATMs).
Special Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Some college coursework or certificate completion in business, accounting, or a related field preferred. Transferable work or volunteer experience may be considered equivalent.
- Two or more years of experience in banking, financial services, customer service, transactional retail, or another consumer‑focused or regulated service industry preferred.
- Proficiency with typical office technologies, including mobile computing, office equipment, and productivity software.
- Ability to handle cash accurately and securely in a fast‑paced environment.
- Must be able to reliably and flexibly commute between any of our four locations in Freeborn County.
- A history of broad learning, continuous improvement, or increasing responsibility in previous roles is a strong plus.

Report to Work ExpectationsThis position is based at our Produce State Bank William Street location in Albert Lea. Work schedules are designed to ensure proper staffing for opening, operating, and closing the branch during the following hours:
Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Friday: 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM Saturday: 8:00 AM to Noon
