Position Overview

Responsible for professional and efficient supervision of the Operations Control Center and its staff. Supervise and support a team of Control Center Operators by directing workflow and monitoring the OCC and its staff’s performance. Ensure safe and accurate monitoring and control of renewable energy assets to minimize production losses and maximize efficiency and generation while complying with contractual obligations and all applicable Client standards and practices.

Responsible and accountable for all operational issues that occur in the OCC during their shift work assignments.

Responsibilities
  • Directs staff in monitoring and identifying performance issues to maximize plant productivity.
  • Maintain records of OCC operation and personnel status.
  • On-call for emergency situations at OCC and must be willing to work other shifts as required.
  • Maintains a positive, professional work environment that fosters collaboration and teamwork.
  • Assure all procedures, policies, and personnel are working together to provide service to OCC customers.
  • Train staff on all required guidelines, processes and procedures and ensure that they are followed.
  • Provide personnel supervision within the dynamics of the OCC’s 24/7/365 multi-shift work environment.
  • Schedule 24/7 OCC coverage with multi-person crew shifts.
  • Provide detailed information (verbal and written) regarding individual personnel actions when discipline and/or discharge is being considered.
  • Assist maintenance teams to troubleshoot problems and ascertain probable cause.
  • Perform tasks of Level II Operator in the absence of Level II personnel.
  • Direct electrical substation switching using detailed understanding of the Company’s electrical switching practices.
  • Use OEM or Enterprise SCADA to adjust plant control setpoints such as active and reactive power of the company’s generating units.
  • Ensure asset, meteorological, and substation data integrity for internal databases used for reporting and for external real-time operations.
  • Monitor and analyze assets to identify performance issues and troubleshoot with multiple parties for resolution across the project and potentially across the fleet.
  • Perform troubleshooting of plant control systems or telemetry issues between multiple entities and coordinate communication of issues and statuses to multiple parties.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize the generating asset’s value by capturing profit opportunities when possible.
  • Work with maintenance to troubleshoot problems and ascertain probable cause.
  • Maintain understanding of compliance requirements for owned and third-party assets.
  • Perform diagnostic analysis of operating data to assess performance and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Assist with triage management and coordination of simultaneous plant event management among the OCC team.
  • Supervise OCC Operators in the absence of supervisory personnel and provide direction on technical issues related to system performance and operation.
  • Involved in functional testing during commissioning or onboarding of new projects.
  • Maintain safe, reliable, and efficient operation by quickly responding to changing conditions to maximize availability and generation within permits, procedures, contracts, and company objectives.
  • Respond to changing conditions to maximize plant safety and efficiency.
  • Monitor parameters, data points, and sensor outputs to verify operating conditions and detect faults.
  • Monitor weather data (wind speed/direction, irradiance, storms, equipment temperatures, etc.) and coordinate responses as needed.
