Tire Technician

This position will be responsible for the maintenance, tire care and repair of Solid Waste tires including light, medium, and heavy‑duty automobiles, trucks, and equipment.

Education directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

High school diploma or GED required;

One (1) year of tire repair experience.

• Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
• Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) month from date of hire.
• Perform basic operational characteristics of automotive and heavy truck tires.
• Perform basic tire, tube and wheel troubleshooting principles
• Apply principles and practices of automotive inventory control
• Occupational hazards and standard safety practices

• Operate and perform a variety of tire repair equipment in a safe and effective manner
• Identify tire wear limits and determine appropriate tire replacement intervals
• Work independently in the absence of supervision
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Communicate clearly and concisely
• Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
