Overview

The Civil Construction Inspector II will work on HDR’s Field Services team, ensuring that civil infrastructure projects – roads, bridges, water and wastewater facilities – are built to the highest quality, safety and trust standards. The role involves field observation, drawing interpretation, and collaboration with project managers and other field staff.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct field observations of construction progress for civil infrastructure projects.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, identifying discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
  • Collaborate with other field representatives and Project Managers to resolve issues.
  • Provide guidance to less-experienced field staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required to support project delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical school or Associate degree.
  • Relevant industry certifications.
  • Ability to interpret construction schedules.
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in civil construction inspection or related field.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Proven problem‑solving and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Successful completion of a drug‑screening procedure prior to hire; subject to random and cause drug and alcohol testing thereafter.
  • An attitude and commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture is a must.
