Position Summary
The University of New Mexico (UNM) Athletics Department is seeking a creative, driven, and social media-savvy student to join our Creative Media team. This student assistant will play an active role in the production, coverage, and engagement of content across athletic events, supporting digital storytelling and fan engagement through photography, video, and social media platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with
game day coverage
through photography and video at athletic events. - Support
live social media content creation
, including Instagram stories, live tweeting, and real-time photo/video editing. - Contribute to the
planning and cultivation
of engaging social and digital content. - Assist with
social media publishing and scheduling
on both game days and non-game days. - Attend
creative team meetings
and contribute ideas for campaigns, features, and original content. - Stay informed on
current trends
in social media and sports digital content to help grow audience engagement. - Monitor social media activity and help develop strategies to drive higher interaction and follower growth.
- Support other
creative, digital, and media tasks
as assigned.
- Must be a current student at UNM - At least 6 credit hours
- Interest in sports, media production, communications, or digital marketing.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, X/Twitter, Tik Tok, Facebook, etc.).
- Availability to work evenings and weekends for athletic events across multiple sports.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, creative environment.
- Bonus:
Experience with photography, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere, Lightroom), Canva, or similar tools.
