PayBase pay range: $/yr - $/yr
SummaryThis position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). Eligible applicants must meet specified criteria and submit a repayment application within four months of appointment. The program award can be up to $200,000 over a period of one to five years, determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office.
Qualifications- United States citizenship; non‑citizens only if no qualified citizen is available.
- Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a VA‑approved medical school.
- Full and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
- Completed an approved residency in Pulmonology or Critical Care and is board certified or board eligible in that specialty.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Eligible for a faculty appointment in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of New Mexico (UNM).
- Provide quality pulmonary and critical care services in inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Deliver patient‑centered care in the MICU, pulmonary function laboratory, sleep laboratory, and bronchoscopy suite.
- Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows; contribute to educational development programs affiliated with UNM School of Medicine.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care, teaching, and research; be eligible for a faculty appointment at UNM.
- Complete all documentation timely and in accordance with accepted medical standards.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Competitive salary with annual performance bonus and regular salary increases.
- Paid time off: 50‑55 days per year, including annual leave, sick leave, and federal holidays.
- Retirement: traditional federal pension (five years vesting) and 401(k) with up to 5% VA match.

- Full medical licensure required; malpractice coverage provided.
- Contract:
No employment contract; unrestricted moonlighting. - Recruitment/relocation incentive: sign‑on bonus for highly qualified candidates.
