The University of New Mexico Seeks a Hematologic Malignancies Faculty Member
The University of New Mexico School of Medicine and the University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center (UNMCCC) in Albuquerque, NM, USA are inviting applications from physicians or physician scientists to join the Division of Hematology/Oncology. Salary is $300,000 or above. Posted:
December 31, 2025. Application period is November 24, 2025 – May 31, 2026.
- Teach, clinically precept, and mentor medical students, residents, fellows, and other healthcare trainees in clinical oncology, especially hematopoietic cell therapy and targeted immunotherapies.
- Provide inpatient and outpatient consultative services for patients with hematologic malignancies, including hematopoietic cell transplantation, CAR T cell therapy, or targeted immunotherapies.
- Conduct clinical or translational research and clinical trials.
- Teach in areas of cancer research and cancer health care delivery.
- Gain recognition and impact within a close-knit academic environment
- Join the only NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center within 500 miles
- Provide multidisciplinary care for patients with breast malignancies
- Participate in clinical and translational research within a nationally recognized academic cancer center
- Enroll patients and collaborate on investigator-initiated and cooperative group clinical trials
- The Division has Full-time Medical Oncology Inpatient Providers (Monday to Friday)
- Faculty expected to cover the Inpatient on weekends

- MD or combined MD/PhD degree or equivalent degree with board certification in Internal Medicine.
- 3-year residency in Internal Medicine and 3-year fellowship in Hematology or Medical Oncology.
- Board certification/eligibility in Hematology or Medical Oncology;
- Experience in cancer clinical trials with a focused interest in hematologic malignancies
- An equivalent of one year, or more, of full-time hematopoietic cell therapy patient care experience
- Experience with clinical or research Cell Therapy Laboratory operation.
- Experience in resident/fellow education.
- Experience in clinical and translational research
