Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery

Position Summary

Open Rank Level faculty position in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, expected to provide clinical care, teaching, and university service.

UNM serves a large, medically complex population and acts as a consultative resource for the state and region. The Division collaborates with the University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center (UNMCCC), a National Cancer Institute–designated center, and partners with a nationally recognized vascular surgery team for complex aortic reconstruction.

• MD or equivalent
• Board certification/eligibility in cardiothoracic surgery
• Completion of an accredited residency in cardiothoracic surgery
• Eligible for licensure in NM
• Eligible for State of New Mexico Board of Pharmacy certification
• Eligible for Federal DEA registration
• Eligible to work in the U.S.

• Distinguished personal record of clinical and research accomplishments in this specialty
• Strong interest in teaching
• Strong interest and expertise in minimally invasive surgery
• A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities
