Position Summary

University of New Mexico s Organization, Information, & Learning Sciences Program, Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) in Organization Development/Human Resource Development, Starting in August 2026

The Organization, Information, & Learning Sciences (OILS) Program in the College of University Libraries & Learning Sciences at the University of New Mexico invites applications for an assistant professor (tenure-track) faculty position beginning August 2026. The faculty member will serve as the Coordinator of the OILS Accelerated Online Programs (AOPs, more details below).

This is a full-time, 9-month faculty position. OILS seeks a scholar who will advance knowledge in Organization Development (OD), Human Resource Development (HRD), or closely related fields through a high-impact research agenda, contribute to building OILS s national visibility, and pursue external funding opportunities. This position provides the opportunity for an early-career faculty member to gain leadership experience through coordination of OILS AOPs and lead efforts to grow enrollment by engaging in outreach, building partnerships, and promoting the program s visibility across New Mexico and beyond.

In this role, the faculty member will develop and teach AOP courses at the undergraduate and master s levels. Courses may include areas such as leadership, organization development, mentoring, coaching, career & professional development, positive organizational scholarship, and other areas in the candidate s expertise. The faculty member may also teach and advise in the doctoral program.

AOP information

AOPs are online degree programs offered at reduced tuition for out-of-state students. UNM faculty can propose to create an AOP, which includes a course review process. Currently, OILS has four AOPs: BS in Instructional Technology & Training; undergraduate minor in Instructional Technology & Training; and two concentrations in the MA:
Design for Online Learning and Learning Officer. As student enrollment in OILS AOPs has increased in recent years, OILS aims to build on this success by expanding outreach, strengthening coordination, and offering additional concentrations or certificates. A majority of OILS BS and MA courses are already taught online. As a result, many OILS courses include two sections (AOP and non-AOP) that meet as one seamless class.
