SCHOOL YEAR:

LOCATION: 405 Dr.Martin Luther King Jr Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 81102

WEEKLY HOURS - .5 COURSE CREDIT: No more than 10 hours per week. No more than 6 hours per day plus complete a self-reflection project and present it during the last week of the internship. Currently a 1-2 semester limit.

HOURLY PAY: $15/hr stipend (No taxes withheld)

WHEN WORK HAPPENS: Monday through Friday 8:00AM - 3:00PM unless instructed differently by your SEL Teacher/Advisor/Mentor Contact Name above.

Summary Of Position

Job requirements: ECC is looking for someone that enjoys working with children and has patience with babies-toddlers. You will need to dress comfortably but professionally for this position. You must have good communications skills to convey messages to parents and staff. You must be able to commit to at least 4-8 hours per week on a consistent basis. This internship will be directly supervised;

you will not be left unsupervised with children.

Job Duties Include But Are Not Limited To
  • Adhering to safety protocols at all times
  • Sanitizing all toys and play areas
  • Making sure ECC is clean, orderly, safe and stimulating
  • Coordinating activities for children
  • Greeting parents and children, assist in making a smooth transition
  • Assisting with snacks and hand washing
  • Reporting any medical problems or accidents to supervisor
  • Encouraging and engage children
  • Maintaining a physical environment conducive to children's growth and development
  • Assuring that equipment and materials are accessible, appropriate and in good condition
  • Monitoring and supervising the children constantly
  • Cultivating relationships with children, parents, and guardians
  • Keeping records up to date e.g. Daily logs, sign in/out sheets

Other Duties As Assigned

Assist in rocking and holding young children, keeping the Center clean and picked up, playing with the children, assisting with arts and crafts, preparing snacks, and taking out trash/diapers.

When Work Happens

If you attend school in the AM, you will be expected to work in the PM session (12:55-4:30). If you are in the PM session the expectation is that you will need to be at the ECC for the AM session (7:40-11:15). The school will be closed from 11:15-12:55.

Working and Onboarding Requirements

Please speak to your SEL Teacher/Advisor/Mentor regarding working and physical conditions at your intern site. You will also be required to sign and upload W-9 and Parental Permission forms. In addition you will be required to electronically acknowledge Non-Disclosure and Internship agreements.

As part of your application, you will be expected to fill out your emergency contact information, school and other personal information as required by Albuquerque Public Schools Work-Based Learning programs and the New Mexico Public Education Department. Failure to do so or omission or erroneous information will result in your application to be rejected.
