Position: School-Age Teacher / After-School Program Educator

Albuquerque, NM | Part-Time

At East Gate Kids
, our School-Age Program provides a safe, engaging, and enriching space for children after the school day ends. We are hiring School-Age Educators who may be placed as Teacher Assistants or Lead Teachers
, depending on education, experience, and licensing qualifications. We're looking for reliable, upbeat educators who can bring structure, creativity, and movement and connection to the afternoons.

Schedule & Availability
  • After-School

    Shifts:

    • 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM or

    • 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM

  • Monday-Friday

  • School-year position (year-round after-school care with possibility for full time hours during the summer)

Why This Role Matters

School-age children need positive adult role models, structure after long school days, and opportunities to connect, move, and decompress.

You'll help children transition from school to home in a way that feels supportive, fun, and structured - while building strong relationships with families and teammates.

What You'll Do
  • Supervise and engage school-age children in after-school programming

  • Lead or support games, creative projects, outdoor play, and homework time

  • Maintain safety, structure, and positive behavior guidance

  • Support daily routines and transitions

  • Communicate positively with families and team members

  • Follow all New Mexico childcare licensing and safety regulations

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Experience working with school-age children (childcare, camps, schools, youth programs)

  • Strong communication and group-management skills

  • Ability to meet physical job requirements

  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Ability to pass all required background checks

Placement Consideration:

  • Candidates may be hired as a Teacher Assistant ($19 - $21) or Lead Teacher ($21 - $23) based on education, experience, and licensing eligibility.
